Remodeling FAQs

Are labor and materials included in the estimated prices?

Where stated in our pricing guide, estimates include labor and standard material allowances. Appliances, major repairs and upgrades may be excluded. Compare the written scope and ask which products fit the allowance before ordering.

How much does finishing an 800, 1,200 or 1,600 sq ft basement cost?

Our base planning estimates are $27,900 for 800 sq ft, $35,900 for 1,200 sq ft and $43,900 for 1,600 sq ft. These assume a dry, accessible basement and the defined open-plan scope. See basement costs and optional additions.

Is a basement bathroom or bar included?

These are separate additions: a full bathroom is estimated at $12,500 with usable nearby rough-ins, an eight-foot kitchenette at $11,500, and a six-foot dry bar at $4,500. New drainage systems, extensive concrete cutting and appliances are excluded from these allowances.

Is painting priced by floor area or wall area?

Wall painting is measured by the paintable wall surface, not the floor area. Ceilings, doors, trim and extensive surface preparation are separate items. Our painting service page explains what to discuss before requesting a quote.

How do you avoid counting the same work twice?

When combining room packages, flooring and painting already included in those rooms should not be added again. Additional rooms and separately measured work belong in a clearly defined whole-home scope.

How do I request an estimate?

Use our contact form or call 215-820-7243. Share your location, the rooms you want updated, photos or plans and your preferred timing. An on-site review helps confirm measurements and the scope.

Can you price the work from photos?

Photos are useful for an initial conversation. A detailed proposal depends on dimensions, access, existing conditions and material choices that may require a walkthrough.

How much will my remodel cost?

Our remodeling pricing guide gives defined estimated prices with inclusions and exclusions for kitchens, bathrooms, basements, flooring and painting. A written proposal confirms the scope and price for your home.

How long does remodeling take?

Timing depends on scope, material availability, required approvals and the order of work. We discuss the proposed schedule for your project. Read our bathroom timeline guide for the decisions that come before construction.

Can I supply my own materials?

Tell us which materials you want to supply before the estimate is finalized. We review dimensions, compatibility and delivery timing and identify purchasing responsibilities in the agreed scope. Share product specifications before placing orders.

Can I stay in the home during construction?

This depends on which rooms and facilities are affected. Let us know whether you have another working bathroom, need kitchen access or work from home so we can discuss practical phasing and disruption.

What happens if hidden damage is found?

Conditions discovered after removal may change the work required. We discuss additional repairs, pricing and any schedule implications before proceeding with work beyond the agreed scope.

Can you remove a wall or change a room layout?

We can discuss layout changes as part of your remodeling scope. The structure and utilities need review before demolition, and any required engineering plans, permits or trade work should be identified before construction. A photo alone is not enough to confirm a wall’s role.

Can every hardwood floor be refinished?

No. Remaining wood thickness, previous sanding and damage affect whether refinishing is appropriate. Our refinish-or-replace guide explains what to ask during an inspection.

What should I prepare before the first visit?

Bring photos, rough dimensions, your priorities, inspiration images, any plans and specifications for products already purchased. Use our project planner to organize the information.

How do I compare proposals from different contractors?

Compare the same scope, materials, preparation, disposal, trade work and exclusions. Our estimate comparison guide provides a practical checklist.

Where can I see your work?

Visit our project portfolio and the kitchen, bathroom and basement galleries. During your consultation, tell us which examples reflect the style or features you want.
