Your Remodeling Project Planner

Use this checklist before your first remodeling consultation. Copy it into your notes or print the page and bring it to the walkthrough. You do not need all the answers before contacting us; the goal is to identify your priorities and the decisions still to make.

1. Describe the project

Property town and the rooms you want to update.
What is not working in the space today.
Your three highest priorities.
Features or finishes you want to keep.
Whether the work is one project or several phases.

2. Gather what you already know

Photos of each room and the areas that need repair.
Rough measurements and any available plans.
Known leaks, water entry, floor damage or previous repairs.
Product links and dimensions for materials you have selected.
A small set of inspiration images with notes about what you like.

3. Set your budget priorities

Separate essential repairs and functional improvements from optional upgrades. Identify a comfortable investment range and ask what choices most affect the scope. Do not compare proposals until you understand the allowances and exclusions. Read our guide to comparing kitchen estimates.

4. Plan around daily life

Will you stay in the home during construction?
Which bathroom or kitchen facilities must remain available?
Do you work from home or need quiet periods?
Where will furniture and belongings be moved?
Are there access, parking or delivery arrangements to discuss?
Are there deadlines or travel dates the team should know about?

5. Match your checklist to the room

Kitchen: cabinet layout, appliance sizes, storage, countertops, backsplash and lighting. Kitchen services.

6. Confirm the written scope

Work included and excluded.

Payment milestones and the proposed sequence.
How changes will be documented.
Cleanup and the final walkthrough.
