Dream Space planning guide
A request to paint a room can mean different things to different people. Define the surfaces and preparation before comparing figures or choosing a work date.
01 · Planning step
List the surfaces by room
Write down which walls, ceilings, doors, frames, baseboards and other trim need painting. Identify accent walls or specialty finishes separately. A room list makes it easier to agree on the work and avoid assuming that every surface is included.
02 · Planning step
Record the current condition
Take wide photos and close-ups of peeling paint, cracks, patches or texture. Previous coatings and more extensive repair work need assessment. A fresh coat does not automatically resolve an unstable surface underneath it.
03 · Planning step
Agree on products and finishes
Confirm the paint product, colors, finish and who supplies the materials. Also identify any primer or repair scope to be included. Those decisions should be written down so the quoted work can be compared on the same basis.
04 · Planning step
Confirm the measurement basis
Dream Space’s established interior painting reference is $3 per sq ft. The prototype uses entered floor area as a planning assumption. The actual measurement basis, included paint materials and exact surfaces need confirmation before that figure is treated as a final price.
05 · Planning step
Coordinate protection and room access
Identify furniture, flooring and fixtures to protect and discuss what needs to be moved. When painting is combined with flooring or cabinetry, review the sequence so protection, preparation and finish work fit the agreed plan.
Common planning questions
Does the estimate include ceilings and trim?
Only if they are included in the written proposal. The tool does not automatically price ceilings, doors, trim or extensive drywall work.
What should I bring to a paint consultation?
Bring a room list, photos, color preferences, the surfaces to include and any known coating or moisture concerns.
